Posted on February 10, 2017

Travelers are in for a treat as the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) offers destinations and hard to resist tour packages as it opens the 24th edition of Travel Tour Expo (TTE) today. It will run until Feb. 12.

Now considered as the country’s biggest annual travel and tourism event, the TTE occupies all four halls and five function rooms of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

“We are continuously trying to outdo ourselves every year. Every March, right after the TTE closes, we begin our work for the following year. It is our conviction to provide Filipinos with more travel opportunities at an affordable cost,” said TTE chairperson and PTAA immediate past president Maria Michelle Reyes-Victoria.

More than 300 travel industry players including national tourism organizations (NTO), local government units, and embassies are participating in the three-day expo, making the TTE the biggest of its kind in the country.

This year, the TTE has more than 100 hotels and resorts, 27 airlines, 83 travel agencies and tour operators, and 17 NTOs and embassies. The expo also has theme parks, cruise lines and other travel-related entities.

“Everything the public will need for their next travel, be it for leisure or business and even MICE, they will find it at the TTE. It is the one-stop shop for all the travels they are planning this year,” Ms. Victoria said.

Aside from the participating exhibitors, TTE will have stage activities including performances by some of the country’s popular artists, games, presentation from exhibitors and sponsors, and raffles every hour.

Ms. Victoria said the increase in new exhibitors for the expo is a sign that tourism is now a key mover of the country’s economy and that Filipinos now have increased spending capacity to travel.

“Tourism is indeed one of the country’s sunshine industries and the best is yet to come. The PTAA is glad to be doing its humble contribution to its growth,” Ms. Victoria quipped.

TTE 2017 is co-presented with the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board along with major sponsors Citibank as the official bank partner, Philippine Airlines and Mabuhay Miles as official airline and rewards program partner, Philippine Star as official broadsheet, and TLC and SKY Cable as official cable TV partner.

TTE opens its doors to the public at 10 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. Admission fee is P60 while senior citizen rate is at P40.
