Film festival

PELíCULA/PELIKULA, the biggest Spanish film festival in Asia, runs from Oct. 6 to 15 at the Greenbelt 3 Cinemas, Makati City, with more than 20 recent films from Spain and Latin America to be screened. The film 1898, Los ultimos de Filipinas by Salvador Calvo which tells the story the Baler siege will be shown on Oct. 6, followed by a Q&A with the director at 9:30 p.m. One the same day (Oct. 6) Spanish director Sally Gutiérrez will present her documentary Ta acorda ba Tu el Filipinas? (2017), its world premiere. Translated tragedy

Tanghalang Pilipino presents Ang Pag-uusig, a translation of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Huseng Batute. Translated by Jerry Respeto and directed by Dennis Marasigan, the play dramatizes the use of “the establishment” of the powerful few in condemning the innocent. Beauty and the Beast

Rep’s Beauty and the Beast

Repertory Children’s Theater presents the musical Beauty and the Beast at the Onstage Theatre in Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas, Makati City until Dec. 14. Directed by Joy Virata, it is the classic story of a repulsive Beast who inhabits a strange and magical castle, and of the beautiful girl who is caught in the castle whose innocence and sympathetic affection for the Beast breaks a wicked spell and releases a handsome prince. Exhibit guided tour
